Three Things to do in Northern Virginia

The Mid-Atlantic region on the east coast is many things. As the seasons change, you can see the foliage turn green, then turn to vibrant fall colors and finally drop to the ground. Since that area was first settled by the Europeans, mainly the English, before the United States of America became the United States, the historical sites are plenty. Residents of Northern Virginia take pride in their wine offerings. While the area hasn’t received the notoriety that Northern California or cities in France receive, wine tasting in Northern Virginia is worth putting on your list.

Here are three more things to do if you travel to the northern cities of Virginia.

Hiking

The northern region of Virginia consists of several cities including Alexandria, Fairfax and Falls Church as well as Manassas and Manassas Park. A few counties are also included like Arlington, Fairfax and Loudon as well as Prince William. Within this region there are several outdoor activities to enjoy. Hiking is one of them. Whether you have hiking gear ready to go, or you just want to go for an extended walk, Great Falls Park, Leesylvania State Park and Ashburn Park are great destinations. Some take you through hills and others to the coast.

Sightseeing

It is one thing to learn history in a classroom. It is another to experience history in person. In this area, you have the opportunity to visit historical sites and battlefields including Manassas National Battlefield Park. There is also the Arlington National Cemetery and Marshall House.

Dining

There is no shortage of dining options in this region. In addition to the wineries, you can go on food tours that take you through the downtown areas of cities.
